Ziva Hadar grew up in Israel and began her relationship with music at an early age - developing multi-instrumental and vocal skills through formal study. This led several years playing and performing with various musical projects, and a found affinity for songwriting.
In 2007, Ziva moved to San Francisco to further pursue her songwriting and performing career. Over the past year she has enlisted a solid lineup to support her efforts: bassist / vocalist Kipp Glass, guitarist Jon Jimmerson, drummer Miles Escobedo, violist Be’eri Moalem, and cellist Julia Jurkiewicz.
Referencing jazz, blues, rock, and pop – Ziva and her band have created a cohesive and effective sound. They possess theatrical elements, exotic rhythms, and a healthy dose of instrumental dynamics. Ziva provokes her piano and propels her songs with admirable composure and intention. Her voice is dimensional and sure from its deepest brooding lows to fierce highs. The band behind her serves as an army of confidence and cause her progressions to explode.
Influences include Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Kaki King, and Evanescence.
Ziva’s efforts over the past year have included the production of a four-song demo, and performances in SF at The Red Devil Lounge, Pier 23, Delores Park Café, and Yoshi’s Lounge, as well as other venues in SF and the Bay Area.
Besides the pursuit of her own musical goals, Ziva has dedicated herself to the promotion of the broader San Francisco music community; She works with organizations such as WomenROCK, Bay Vibes, and the San Francisco Songwriters Circle – sharing resources and support with fellow artists and fans of music. She recently gathered some of these artists and community members for a greater cause - producing a benefit for the American Diabetes Association.
Future plans include continued performances in the Bay Area, a series of shows in the East Coast this summer, and further progression on a full-length album and a tour that will follow.
